Sounds delicious Mary! How many people are you feeding typically? Are you wanting one to cook a main dish in while you cook the side dish in the 5 quart?

Made split pea soup but used standard pan for it but the ham flavor was superb. also made some veggie and sausage dishes and a veggie soup. Don’t get as much as one would using a larger one but for now I like it. What would be a good next size to buy. We have 18 and 24 quart we use for canning and an 8 quart manual that I haven’t used for 2 years. Want another electric.

Hi Terry – My mom cooked with a pressure cooker when I was growing up, but fortunately her’s wasn’t too scary looking and never blew up. She made some great meals with it. I’m sure you’ll be impressed with how easy and stress free the electric pressure cookers.

It looked “Frankensteinish” to me as a child. We could practically not come in the kitchen when it was being used, my grandmother being a pretty cautious woman. I would like to try a simple version, maybe electric; because I still see that big one as “scary”. It was meant for hard core canning anyway. I have somewhat fond, if not scary feelings about pressure cooking!

I did blow up one. Didn’t know that the seal was bad. That was in a restaurant. These are so much safer and they take a lot of the guess work out of stuff. Mine browns, sautes, and all that stuff that makes a mess. Just gotta say why not try one.

They are really cool. Get one. I bought one from Amazon. A Cuisinart. After my daughter got hers. They work, they can get stuff done and flavorful in a New York minute ( I am from Montana). The best book I found, actually from my daughter was written by a man and I LOVE it. Bob Warden is his name. Before that I bought 2 and she was all about the “old” cookers. Thanks

As you know, I have an older stovetop pressure cooker and I use it often. However, I have an electric one on my wish list. Even after all these years of pressure cooking, I’m still quite cautious when using the stovetop cooker. I’d love to try one that didn’t need babysitting 🙂

I have an electric one on my wish list and when I get it I will let you know how I like it.
