A fab recipe, thanks to your grandma. My family love it, we just adjusted the ingredients to make a smaller amount. This is how it’s cooked in Northern India. Enjoy with flatbread or rice and any vegetable like cauliflower, spinach, okra etc.

Add 1 cup black beans with 2 cups stock and 3-4 stalks of fresh chopped cilantro, 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes, with slow release. Remove the lid and stir rapidly on high heat for 5-8 minutes to finish. It should be lovely and creamly.

Yes! You can cook soaked black beans at high pressure for 5 minutes in the Instant Pot. Just add the ingredients, set your time for 5 minutes at high pressure and use a natural pressure release at the end.

In the video, she is using non-electric right? can you pressure cook beans in 5 minutes using an instant pot?

Hi Keith – use a 3:1 water to beans ratio – so 3 cups of water to 1 cup beans in this recipe.
